Different modalities are used in acupuncture: needles, ear seeds, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, liniments, and herbs. Most commonly, thin and single-use sterile needles are used to promote changes towards your goal of wellness. Each acupuncture point has a different function and method; the technique used to insert and adjust the needle is individualized for your treatment. Some cases will call for additional modalities and will be discussed at each appointment. This individualized medicine calls for personalized treatments; each person has different needs and answers to the root cause and current symptoms. Acupuncture is a whole systems medicinal approach to health. This centuries-old holistic method uses multiple modalities to bring harmony and balance to the body and mind.

My name is Caroline Suhadolnik and I am a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) and Nationally Certified Herbalist. I treat all ages and a broad spectrum of chronic and acute illnesses as well as many physical conditions. I specialize in treating menstrual disorders, digestive complications, and mental-emotional imbalances.

Since I was 9 years old, I never truly felt ‘at home’ with myself; I tried every exercise, diet, and supplement but nothing helped me feel better. In 2015, my sister brought me to her acupuncture appointment and I was in awe about the information her acupuncturist gave me; I grew up working in a gym and got a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science (at Illinois State University - Go Redbirds!), but this different view of health was incredible. I took a leap of faith, wanting to learn more. A few years later, I found my new passion in life – Traditional Chinese Medicine.

While learning about the art of acupuncture and herbs, I realized how much it can help just about everything and everyone – I have witnessed and experienced how beneficial this practice is for a wide range of conditions. It continues to fascinate me day-in and day-out.

I believe that healing begins when you are in a safe space, where you can comfortably voice your complaints, feel heard, and truly relax. I offer hour-long appointments where you are in a private room with a soft light, a comfortable chair to lay on, and time to listen to your story and receive a treatment. My goal is to develop a plan with you to bring a sense of harmony back to your life, ease pain, reduce stress, and enhance your well-being.

Chinese Medicine treats a variety of symptoms along with the root causes of those issues which unlocks the healing potential of our body and mind. Acupuncture and herbal medicine is a treatment for the whole being, not just the individual parts; when we are in balance, our mind and body feel at ease. It’s never too early or too late to start making your way back home.

Xu Dachun, the great 17th century physician described it best, “Illnesses may be identical, but the people who have them are different”. My vision for promoting health is to treat human beings, not illnesses.
